How do difficulty ratings work?
Our six‑level difficulty system makes it easy to find the right project for your skill level. The ratings are far from strict rules, just a helpful guide. Take a look at the project and decide for yourself what feels right.

Level 1 – Starter Build
Anyone can follow these guides, they are beginner friendly and require basic tools and setup. Each step is clearly laid out and explained to help you follow along with confidence.

Level 2 – Beginner Project
Slightly more involved than Level 1. May require a bit more setup and a few additional tools. They’re still highly accessible, and every step is clearly described and explained so you can follow along without difficulty.

Level 3 – Intermediate Guide
Requires some familiarity and patience, along with certain specialist tools and components. All steps are clearly explained, but you may need to interpret or adapt parts of the process to suit your specific setup.

Level 4 – Advanced Build
You’ll need solid tools, time, and confidence. This is where the builds get serious, with specialist components and skills often required. Some parts of the build may need tweaking for your setup therefore some prior experience is important.

Level 5 – Expert Challenge
Significant time and skill are required. This is full‑on engineering, demanding specialist tools and advanced techniques. Some components may be hazardous if mishandled, so a high level of competence is essential. These guides will often required interpretation for your specific project, therefore requiring high levels of competence.
